Crucial and latest Covid figures of TN

Chennai: The number of fresh Covid cases in Tamil Nadu stood at 4,512 on Tuesday, including two imported cases from Andhra Pradesh, taking the total to 24,75,190. The positivity rate in TN has further come down to 2.8 per cent.

After discharge of 6,013 patients, the State had 39,335 people undergoing treatment for the viral infection. Cumulative case tally touched 24.75 lakh while the toll reached 32,506.

As many as 118 more deaths were reported in the State, including 47 in private and 71 in government hospitals. Twelve deaths were reported in Chennai and Madurai each, while seven deaths were reported in Salem. The total death toll in the State stands at 32,506.

According to Director of public health Dr TS Selvavinayagam, fresh cases and positivity rate have been steadily dropping across Tamilnadu.

He added: “The State has relaxed lockdown restrictions in several areas, but it is still important for people to stay at home unless it is required to step out. Wear masks and maintain social distance.”
