Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation has once again halted Covid-19 vaccination, due to shortage of jabs.
Sources said vaccination would resume once the civic body receives fresh stock of doses. Meanwhile, Tamilnadu Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan is camped in New Delhi, to press the Centre for more vaccines for the State.
“He is set to meet senior officials of Union Health Ministry in this regard. Other issues such as AIIMS Madurai will also be discussed,” sources said.
Addressing reporters in Chennai recently, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said that the Union government would give 71 lakh doses to the State in different phases throughout the month.
“They were only supposed to send 42 lakh doses in June but they sent 50 lakh, due to Tamilnadu’s better performance in vaccination,” the Health Minister said.
