Amid Sasikala threat, AIADMK gets ready for internal polls

Chennai: The main opposition AIADMK is likely to make an announcement soon to hold internal elections.

According to sources, the massive exercise will go on for the next six months. This comes at a time when the party’s expelled general secretary V K Sasikala is making desperate comeback attempt.

Also, there is said to be a power struggle between the party coordinator O Panneerselvam and joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami.

Though the AIADMK is still smarting under the Assembly election defeat, Palaniswami has managed to stonewall Sasikala’s every effort to make a comeback.

However, Sasikala had recently said that she has no plans of giving up on the case filed against the AIADMK general body meeting.

In a ‘leaked’ audio of her interaction with a party functionary Poondi Pakkirisamy, she said that there are such posts as coordinator and joint coordinator in the AIADMK.

“It is the cadres who have to pick the leader. This law brought by the AIADMK founder MGR cannot be changed by anyone,” she said.
