Chennai: Actor Vijay has filed an appeal against a recent order of the Madras High Court which dismissed a writ petition filed by him seeking exemption of Entry Tax for his Rolls Royce Ghost car, imported from England.
According to sources, the appeal by Vijay will be taken up for hearing soon. The Madras High Court recently came down hard on Vijay for challenging levy of Entry Tax on his imported luxury car, saying such a reputed actor is expected to pay the tax promptly and punctually, and should not remain a mere reel- life hero.
“It is surprising to note that the petitioner has not even stated his profession or occupation in his affidavit. He has imported a prestigious costly car from England but unfortunately, not paid entry tax as per the statutes. He has filed a writ petition to avoid payment of tax,” the court observed.
