Vice President, Governor pay tributes to Kanchi Sankaracharya

Chennai: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid rich tributes to Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of late Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham on his birth anniversary and recalled his social welfare activities in health and education.

Virtually releasing two Telugu books written by former Andhra Pradesh MLA, N P Venkateswara Chowdary on ancient Hindu temples in Cambodia and Vietnam, Naidu said the art and architecture of those temples showcase ancient Indian culture and traditions.

Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Monday called for measures to take forward the visionary projects of Kanchi Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, aimed at uplifting India and Indian culture, as a homage to the seer’s contribution to society.

Describing the Acharya as ‘an epitome of modesty and simplicity,’ the Governor said his calmness and silence attracted millions to him.

Speaking at the 87th Jayanthi celebration of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi at Orikkai in Kanchipuram, Purohit said even his detractors were silenced by the power of the pontiff’s intellect and the radiance of his divinity.
