Chennai: With the ongoing Covid-19 induced lockdown ending tomorrow, Chief Minister M K Stalin will today chair a high-level meeting before taking a decision on whether to extend it or not.
According to sources, as the Covid cases are rising in the State again, the lockdown would be extended for one more week. But a few relaxations can be expected, they added.
Stalin on Thursday said the Tamilnadu government’s efforts to end the pandemic is getting delayed as some people are not taking the lockdown relaxations seriously.
Despite the state government’s efforts to bring down the coronavirus infection, some people found an opportunity to assemble in large numbers when the lockdown is relaxed, he said.
The Chief Minister added: “It seems coronavirus has caused a fear. But it has not affected the routine life. People start assembling in numbers when the lockdown is relaxed.”
“No matter how much awareness the government creates, some don’t realise it. Due to this, the efforts to end the pandemic is getting delayed,” he said.
