Chennai: With Covid cases rising in Tamilnadu once again, Chief Minister M K Stalin has urged people not to force the hand of the government to impose strict lockdown restrictions once again.
“People should not become a reason for the spread of coronavirus by crowding public places. I strongly request you all not to force the government to impose restrictions,” he said in a video statement.
Stalin reiterated that the public must comply with all restrictions imposed by the Tamilnadu government to control the spread of the pandemic.
Stating that vaccination was the best weapon available against Covid-19, the CM said that people take both doses of the vaccine.
“We are exhausting the vaccines being given by the Union government. We are also additionally procuring vaccines. The number of vaccines given by the Union government in phases is not sufficient. But we are providing vaccines to the people as they come,” he added.
Stating that his government through various measures tried to contain the spread of the virus, he said, “though we have tried to contain the virus, we have not completely stopped its spread.”
Stalin added: “It is also difficult to put a full stop since it is contagious and even those countries which had presumed that the virus has been contained, have witnessed a resurgence.”
