Chennai: In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in the State, AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam has urged Chief Minister M K Stalin to take steps to ensure 100 per cent implementation of restrictions so as to manage a third wave. He also urged for monitoring those who enter Tamilnadu from Kerala.
Citing the trend of a marginal rise in fresh virus cases in Tamilnadu from 29 July, Panneerselvam said improper enforcement of norms to help prevent virus spread was the reason behind the spike.
The former Chief Minister, who is also the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, said while the closure of outlets, markets in nine locations in Chennai and disallowing ‘darshan’ in some places of worship was a welcome measure, it is also important to monitor if guidelines are followed. Use of face masks, physical distancing in showrooms were among the norms, he added.
