Chennai: Following increase in Covid cases in some parts of Tamilnadu, the State government empowered district Collectors to impose localised restrictions such as closing down markets and other crowded public places.
According to Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan, “After continuous decline we are seeing a mild upward trend now. So we are taking all necessary steps to curb the spread.”
Tamilnadu has logged 1,985 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 25,71,383 in the State so far, said the Health Department on Friday.
