Chennai: New Covid-19 infections have dipped further in Tamilnadu, as the State registered 1,929 cases on Monday compared to 1,956 on Sunday.
Cases in at least 10 districts increased marginally but the maximum dip any district saw in the last 24 hours was seven cases.
Among these, Chennai reported 182 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,39,856. The State recorded 23 deaths on Monday, putting the toll at 34,340. A total of 1,886 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,22,470.
Since March 2020, 25.77 lakh people have been infected with Covid-19 and 34,340 of them have died.
Among the 23 deaths, Thanjavur, Tiruppur and Salem reported five each. While Chennai reported two deaths, six other districts reported one death each and all other districts reported no deaths.
