Chennai: Daily Covid-19 infections fell below 1,700 in Tamilnadu on Friday. As many as 1,668 people tested positive, taking the tally to 25,97,603.
The test positivity rate (TPR) reduced to 1 per cent; Coimbatore and Salem recording the highest at 1.6 per cent. Erode recorded 1.5 per cent and Tirupur and Namakkal, 1.4 per cent.
Fourteen districts reported a marginal increase in cases. The State recorded 24 deaths, including five in private hospitals. The total number of deaths was 34,663.
As total of 1,887 people were discharged after treatment, taking the total figure to 25,43,319. The active caseload stood at 19,621.
As many as 1,66,254 people were vaccinated on Friday, taking the overall coverage in government centres to 2,57,71,129.
