DMK to invite Sonia, Mamata for its Delhi office opening

Chennai: The DMK is planning to bring together prominent opposition leaders for the inaugural of its office in New Delhi.

According to sources, Tamilnadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin is planning to invite Congress president Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and other leaders for the grand event.

This is being viewed as a plan to bring opposition leaders on one platform to take on the ruling BJP.

Stalin had recently said that federalism was being ‘destroyed’ in the country due to the ‘scant respect’ BJP had for states’ rights.

Stalin, who attended a meeting of opposition parties virtually chaired by Sonia Gandhi, called for opposition unity to take on the BJP.

In a tweet after the meet, Stalin said, “Federalism is being destroyed due to the scant respect BJP has for states’ rights and it is imperative that the opposition stands united at this hour. The recent Parliament session has witnessed our unity.”
