Covid-19: India records 35,662 new cases and 281 deaths

New Delhi: With 35,662 fresh infections, India’s Coronavirus caseload rose to 3,34,17,390 today.

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated this morning, the country’s Covid-19 death toll climbed to 4,44,529, with 281 more fatalities.

The number of active cases has risen to 3,40,639. Also, 14,48,833 tests were conducted on Friday, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far to 55,07,80,273, it said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease is 3,26,32,222. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the vaccination drive has exceeded 79.42 crore, according to the Ministry.

India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August last year, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It went past 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, crossed 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and surpassed the one-crore mark on 19 December last year. India recorded two crore cases on 4 May and three crore cases on 23 June.

The Health Ministry said that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to co-morbidities.
