Stalin’s boost to transform rural areas of Tamilnadu

Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin has distributed various benefits worth Rs 699.26 crore to benefit 6,00,926 beneficiaries of self help groups, producer groups and enterprise groups under Tamilnadu Women Development Corporation, Tamilnadu Urban Livelihood Mission and launched community skill school and community farm school under Tamilnadu Rural Transformation Project recently.

A release said Tamilnadu Rural Transformation Project is unique project of the State government under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.

The project looks beyond poverty alleviation by promoting and strengthening rural enterprise, access to finance and creating job and employment opportunities. The project is implemented in 3994 Village Panchayats of 120 Blocks of 31 Districts in Tamilnadu.

The project is an inclusive program with women centric focusing on SHG members / SHG households as its primary beneficiaries. The project assists both individual and group enterprise with business development support services, facilitation service, convergence and value added services for assisting the enterprise become viable, profitable and sustainable.
