Crucial and latest Covid figures of TN

Chennai: Though fresh Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu decreased, they went up in Chennai.

Tamilnadu on Tuesday logged 1,449 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 2,671,411, while 16 deaths took the toll to 35,682.

Fresh cases in Chennai have slightly gone up to 179 cases. While Coimbatore reported 151 cases, Chengalpattu saw a slight surge at 113. Several districts, including Ramanathapuram, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Tenkasi, reported less than 10 cases.

As many as 1,548 people were discharged after treatment, taking the total figure to 26,18,980. The active caseload stood at 16,749. Chennai had the most number of active cases at 1,900, followed by Coimbatore (1,842), Chengalpattu (1,153) and Erode (1,100).

Four districts reported below 10 cases each, while there were no fresh deaths in 27 districts. The test positivity rate (TPR) in Tamil Nadu is at 1.0 per cent, with the highest TPR of 2.4 per cent in Mayiladathurai. Chennai recorded 0.9 per cent positivity rate.
