Incessant rains lash several parts of TN, more showers in store

Chennai: Incessant rains lashed several parts of Tamilnadu, including in Chennai city and suburbs.

Met office sources attributed the rains due to the presence of an upper air circulation over the Tamilnadu coast.

The met office also said the rains are likely to continue for the next three days. While the delta districts received good rains since last night, Chennai city and suburbs experienced rains since early this morning as the people of this teeming megapolis woke up to grey skies and pleasant weather.

As the showers were heavy at times, several roads were water-logged causing hardship to office-goers. The rains, however, brought respite to the people from the searing heat experienced during the last couple of days.

Rains lashed the city in spells, despite sun playing hide and seek as the weather remained gloomy throughout the day.

Thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Salem, Tiruvannamalai and Cuddalore districts, the Met office said.

Thunderstorm with heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places over Pudukottai, the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Namakkal, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, delta districts and south Tamilnadu.

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at most places over rest of Tamilnadu from today.
Thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over the Nilgiris, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Theni, Dindigul and Coimbatore districts of Tamilnadu on Thursday, with light to moderate rain at most places over rest Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

Moderate rain is also likely to occur at many places over North Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and light to moderate rain is also likely to occur at many places over South Tamilnadu.

The forecast for Chennai city for the next 48 hrs is the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Thunderstorm with moderate rain, heavy at times, is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 32 deg C and 25 deg C respectively.
