Chennai: The price of petrol and diesel were hiked for the second consecutive day today by oil marketing companies.
In the national capital, petrol and diesel rates soared 35 paise to cost Rs 106.54 and Rs 95.27 per litre respectively after the latest hike, according to Indian Oil Corporation.
Petrol prices in Chennai breached the Rs 103 per litre-mark and is currently sold at Rs 103.61 per litre; while diesel rates stood at Rs 99.59.
In Mumbai, a litre of petrol now costs ₹ 112.44, and diesel is sold at ₹ 103.26 per litre.
Crude oil prices were up once again tosday morning as investors continued to gauge the demand-supply imbalance across the globe. According to Reuters, Brent crude futures were trading at $85.99 per barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures were at $83.79 a barrel.
