Chennai: TNCC president K S Alagiri and State Minorities Commission Chairman Peter Alphonse slammed Tamilnadu Governor R N Ravi for seeking details on the functioning of various departments.
In a statement, Alagiri said, ‘It is shocking. The Governor has no right to seek any such details. He has been appointed by the President of the country and not elected by the people.’
Speaking to reporters in Thanjavur, Peter Alphonse said the Governor could not afford to run a parallel government in the State.
Meanwhile, Tamilnadu Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu has said that his communication requesting the Secretaries of government departments to prepare presentations for the Governor on government schemes was ‘routine’ in an administrative set-up.
‘The communication was to prepare a presentation about different departments for the newly appointed Governor. Collecting information about various schemes is a routine procedure in the government. Making it a political controversy was not accurate. Those who are familiar with the government operations know that this was a routine exercise,’ he said.
