TN asks Centre for 800 more medical seats

Chennai: Tamilnadu has sought approval from the Centre for establishing 19 district government headquarters hospitals and an allocation of Rs 950 crore (Rs 50 crore for each hospital).

A demand in this regard was placed to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya by Tamilnadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday.

The State Minister, who attended a national review meeting on the Covid-19 vaccination in New Delhi, earlier met Mansukh Mandaviya and submitted a petition comprising 11 demands of the State.

Subramanian said he had submitted a memorandum highlighting 11 demands of the Tamil Nadu government to the Union Minister.

‘Apart from urging the government to expedite the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) project in Madurai, we have sought an AIIMS for Coimbatore,’ he said.
