Chennai: Wife of a senior official of Tamilnadu government was found dead with her throat slit at their house in Royapettah here Tuesday. The deceased, Sumathi (53), was wife of Inspector General (Registration) Sivan Arul.
According to police, she was alone at the house after her daughter, who visited her parents to celebrate Deepavali, had stepped out for shopping.
When she returned, she found Sumathi unconscious in a pool of blood. There was a blade next to her, said police.
Police retrieved a suicide note which allegedly said she resorted to the extreme step as she was unable to overcome depression. She is survived by Sivan Arul, daughter and son. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
