Crucial and latest Covid figures of TN

Chennai: The trend of gradual decline in fresh Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu continued for the 46th consecutive day on Monday, with 841 people testing positive in the State, taking the tally to 27,09,080.

Chennai reported the highest number of new cases (126), while all other districts reported less than 100 cases. Coimbatore added 94 cases followed by Chengalpattu with 74.

With recoveries (937) outnumbering new infections, active cases subsequently dropped to 10,372, as against the 10,474 on Sunday, according to a government bulletin.

Six districts — Chennai, Kancheepuram, Coimbatore, Chengalpattu, Nagapattinam and Tirupathur — accounted for one death each. While five of the deceased had co-morbidities, a 56-year-old man from Tirupathur district, who died at the Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital on Monday, had none.

Meanwhile, 1,00,563 persons were tested for the infection in the last 24 hours, the bulletin added.
