Chennai: The Low Pressure area over Bay of Bengal is bringing heavy rains to Chennai and other districts of Tamilnadu, weather officials said.
Under its influence, thunderstorm with heavy to very rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore and Chengalpattu districts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry.
Tamilnadu is expected to get rains for the next four days till 20 November. Thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Madurai, Sivaganga, delta districts, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Virudhunagar,
Pudukottai, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Tenkasi, Ariyalur districts of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
Moderate rain is also likely to occur at most places over rest of the districts of Tamilnadu.
Thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy with isolated extremely heavy rain is likely to occur over Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu tomorrow when the systems reaches the TN coast.
The Met office has issued a red alert (rainfall in excess of 20 cm) to these districts. People in Chennai have been asked to store essentials for two days.
Thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chengalpattu, Tirupattur and Vellore districts of Tamilnadu. Thunderstorm with heavy rain is also
likely to occur at isolated places over Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Kallakurichi and Puducherry, besides moderate rain at most places over rest of the districts of Tamilnadu and Karaikal area.
In Chennai, the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Scattered heavy to very heavy with isolated extremely heavy rain is likely to occur for the next 48 hrs.
