Chennai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast increase in rainfall activity over south peninsular India, including Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala/Mahe from 25 November due to a cyclonic circulation over the bay of bengal, which will move towards TN coast in the next 4-5 days.
Met office said that a cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels.
It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Tamilnadu coast during the next 4-5 days.
A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood to Tamilnadu coast in lower tropospheric levels.
Under its influence, light to moderate scattered/fairly widespread rainfall will occur over Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days and over Kerala and Mahe and isolated very heavy rainfall also very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on 25 and 26 November. An orange alert has been issued to these places for these two days.
