Kanyakumari: Call it as a quirk of fate as two habitual criminals died of electruction while attempting steal stray wires from an electric pole at Nagercoil.
Police sources said the incident came to light when passers by noticed two bodies lying near the electric pole.
The dead were identified as John Christopher (33) and his associate Don Bosco (20).
After stealing electric wires from an unused old house near the Nagercoil Corporation Office, the duo attempted to cut a long stray wire connected to an electric pole, using a cutting plier.
Unaware that it was connected to a live wire atop the pole, both of the suffered severe shock and were electrocuted to death on the spot.
The bodies were sent to Government Medical College Hospital at Asaripallam for post-mortem. Further investigations are on.
