Gold worth Rs 32.16 lakh seized at Chennai airport

Chennai: Officials of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) have seized 745 gms of gold from two passengers who arrived from Sharjah at the Anna International airport here.

A press release from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs said the officials detected sawdust form of gold concealed in wrapping cover of carton boxes of two passengers, who arrived from Sharjah.

A total of 745 gm of gold worth Rs 32.16 lakh was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 from them. Further investigation is under progress.
