Chennai: A doctor working as a general practitioner in the Government Royapettah hospital in the city, committed suicide at a star hotel by administering himself with a lethal injection.
Sources said Dr Maheshwar (34) has left a suicide not stating that no one was responsible for his death.
The incident came to light after his friend, learnt about his whereabouts from Maheshwar’s car driver, went to the hotel and found the room locked from inside.
As he did not respond, the hotel staff broke open the door and found Maheswar lying unconscious on the bed. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. Police have recovered an empty syringe and a glucose bottle near his body and sent them for forensic tests. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
