Chennai: With Tamilnadu reporting 715 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, fresh coronavirus infections continued to fluctuate in a few districts. Of the 38 districts, 31 did not report any deaths.
The test positivity rate (TPR) in Tamilnadu stood at 0.7 per cent, where Chengalpattu recorded the highest of 1.5 per cent. Coimbatore and Tiruppur had 1.4 per cent each, while Namakkal and Salem were 1.3 per cent each.
Recoveries outnumbered new infections with 748 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 26,83,691, leaving 8,155 active infections, a medical bulletin said.
Chennai and Coimbatore continued to report cases in three digits. Chennai reported 123 new cases, six more than on Wednesday. Cases in Coimbatore rose to 121 from 118. Twelve other districts reported between one and five cases more than their Wednesday tally.
