Chennai: Two Chennai-based white collar ‘offenders’ who allegedly duped customers by establishing an insurance firm named United India Health Organisation at Trimulgherry in Telagana, were arrested.
The accused, Gopikrishna Venkatakrishna Vasu (32) from Nesapakkam and Natarajan Arumugam (36), allegedly cheated several people on the pretext of providing family discount health insurance policy card with low annual premium, as well as higher returns in short period on smart money investment plans.
Twenty-four staffers were hired by the duo to lure customers to invest in health-related insurance policies and multi-level smart investment schemes, all of which were fake. The duo cheated nearly 55 people.
Acting on a tip-off, the north zone team led by K Nageswar Rao raided a house at Tirumalgherry and busted the fake call centre.
