Chennai: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths today conducted raids in over 55 premises linked to former Higher Education Minister and senior AIADMK leader KP Anbalagan in connection with Rs.11.32 crore disproportionate assets case.
According to sources, searches were on at multiple locations across the State and the outcome would be known only at the end of the operation.
In November last year, the DVAC had sought four weeks’ time from the Madras High Court to respond to a complaint seeking a probe into the alleged amassing of disproportionate assets by Anbalagan.
M Krishnamoorthy, former President of Molaiyanur village panchayat in Dharmapuri, filed a petition before the Madras High Court seeking a direction to DVAC to register a case for probing the complaint he had lodged against the ex-minister.
Last year, when Anbalagan filed his affidavit ahead of the Assembly election, he had shown an income of Rs 13.75 lakh in 2020. But, the income of his family, especially that of his wife and his businessman son, rose manifold between 2016 and 2021.
After the DMK came to power, the DVAC had initiated action against many former Ministers belonging to the AIADMK.
