Review: Monster Hunter

Paul W S Anderson’s directorial Monster Hunter, is based on Capcom’s popular video game franchise of the same name.

In addition to Jovovich in the lead, Monster Hunter also stars martial artist-actor Tony Jaa , Clifford T.I Harris, Jr, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung MC Jin, and Ron Perlman.

The movie tells the story of two heroes who come from different worlds to defeat a shared danger, the powerful, deadly and magnificent monsters that inhabit the land.

Monster Hunter is a visual spectacle and the immersive 3D will place you right in the thick of the action. The director  focuses on bringing alive the imaginative new world of savages, as seen in the video game.

Milla Jovovich’s terrific screen presence deserves a special mention. She fits the bill as a lean and mean captain with a grit to survive an apocalypse-level catastrophe. Her chemistry with Tony Jaa is good. Jovovich and Jaa’s interactions are more engaging.

Packed with punches, Monster Hunter ends up an all-out action extravaganza.
