Stalin visites emergency response centre


In response to the meteorological department’s forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in 27 districts of the state, Chief Minister MK Stalin visited the emergency response centre at Ezhilagam on Tuesday. Accompanied by State Revenue Minister KKSSR Ramachandran, the chief minister reviewed precautionary and relief efforts across various districts. The visit included a video call interaction with collectors from Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts, where Chief Minister Stalin gained insights into the precautionary measures implemented to manage the anticipated heavy rainfall. The emphasis during these discussions was on ensuring the provision of essential amenities such as food, potable drinking water, and medical aid to residents at flood relief camps. Acknowledging the critical role of district collectors in managing crises, Chief Minister Stalin advised them to prioritize the well-being of the affected population. The directive aimed at maintaining a robust support system for those residing in vulnerable areas during adverse weather conditions. During the visit, Chief Minister Stalin also engaged with Mr. Balachandar, the director of the regional meteorological center in Chennai, to stay informed about the heavy rain alert issued for the state. The collaborative effort involved State Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena and other senior officials, reinforcing the coordinated approach towards disaster preparedness and response. The state government, in a released statement, highlighted the proactive measures undertaken by Chief Minister Stalin in light of the weather forecast. This approach signifies a commitment to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the citizens, reflecting the government’s dedication to effective disaster management.
