Chennai, Jan 12; As the festive season of Pongal approaches, the Southern Railway has taken proactive measures to address the anticipated surge in passenger traffic by announcing a series of special trains. This move aims to ensure the smooth and efficient transportation of commuters during the festive period.One of the key highlights is Train No. 06086, the Coimbatore – Tambaram Pongal Superfast Special, scheduled to depart from Coimbatore at 8.45 pm on both January 16 and 17. This special service will reach Tambaram at 5.20 am, providing a convenient and timely travel option for passengers. In the return journey, Train No. 06085 Tambaram – Coimbatore Pongal Superfast Special will depart from Tambaram at 7.30 am on January 17 and 18, reaching Coimbatore at 4.30 pm.
The composition of this special train reflects a thoughtful arrangement catering to diverse passenger preferences. It includes three AC 3-tier coaches, 12 AC 3-tier economy coaches, two Sleeper Class coaches, two General Second Class coaches, one Second Class Coach (Divyangjan-friendly), and one luggage-cum-brake van. Departing from SMVT Bengaluru at 2.30 pm on January 12, this special service is scheduled to reach Tiruchchirappalli at 11.30 pm. The return journey, Train No. 06578 Tiruchchirappalli – SMVT Bengaluru Pongal Special, will depart from Tiruchchirappalli at 4.45 am on January 13, reaching SMVT Bengaluru at midnight.
