MTC announces paid travel for IPL Qualifier 2 and final at Chepauk stadium

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) announced on Wednesday that passengers attending the IPL Qualifier 2 and the final match at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 24 and May 26 (Friday and Saturday) will need to pay for their travel.
Previously, during the IPL league matches, MTC had allowed passengers to travel for free by presenting their online or pre-printed match tickets to the bus conductor. This complimentary service was available from Anna Square Bus Stand, Madras University Bus Stop, and Anna Salai near Omandurar Government Hospital, with fare-free travel permitted up to three hours after the game ended.
However, for the upcoming matches on May 24 and May 26, this fare-free arrangement will no longer be available. Passengers will need to pay for their bus tickets to reach Chepauk Stadium. The decision has been made to revert to regular fare policies for the last two crucial matches of the IPL season.
The MTC’s move to charge fares again comes as fans gear up to watch the high-stakes IPL Qualifier 2 and the final at Chepauk Stadium. Attendees are advised to plan their travel accordingly and ensure they have the necessary fare for their journeys to and from the stadium.
