With Chennai gearing up for heavy rains in the coming days, Aavin, the state-run dairy cooperative, has assured uninterrupted milk supply across the city. To meet the increased demand and address potential disruptions caused by the weather, Aavin has implemented several proactive measures, including stocking adequate supplies of milk powder and ultra-heat-treated (UHT) milk at its distribution points.
Aavin has announced that several key milk stations across the city will operate round the clock to ensure consistent availability. The following locations will remain open 24/7: Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Madhavaram, Vannanthurai (Adyar), Besant Nagar, Vasantham Colony in Anna Nagar East, Sholinganallur, Virugambakkam (near Valasaravakkam Mega Mart), and CP Ramasamy Road Station in Mylapore.
To prevent hoarding and ensure fair distribution, Aavin has implemented a purchase limit of four milk packets per person. This measure will help cater to the needs of a larger population during this critical period.
In addition to the existing outlets, Aavin plans to set up temporary sales points across Chennai to distribute milk powder and UHT milk. These sales points will ensure accessibility for residents in rain-affected areas, minimizing inconvenience and maintaining essential supplies despite challenging weather conditions.
