The much-anticipated trailer of Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, has been released, offering a first look at the film’s 1960s political drama centred on the historic anti-Hindi imposition movement in Tamil Nadu. Set against a backdrop of student activism and social unrest, the trailer shows how ordinary individuals rise up in defence of linguistic rights and identity. In the film, Sivakarthikeyan plays the elder brother of a student leader (played by Atharvaa), initially shown as a reluctant observer who even considers learning Hindi from Sreeleela’s character. However, as the agitation intensifies, his character undergoes a transformation and becomes a key leader in the revolt against the forced imposition of Hindi, emphasising that their fight is not against the language or its speakers, but against coercive policies.
The trailer also introduces Ravi Mohan as a police officer attempting to suppress the movement, leading to confrontations that test resolve and convictions. Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara with music by GV Prakash Kumar (his 100th film), also features Prakash Belawadi in an important role. Produced by Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on January 10, 2026, ahead of Pongal.
