Dhaka, Jan 6:  The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, choosing Litton Das as captain and including key players such as Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed in the pace bowling line-up.
The squad naming comes amid a growing controversy, as Bangladesh has formally asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift its World Cup matches scheduled in India to Sri Lanka, citing concerns over player safety and recent diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Bangladesh’s group stage matches — originally set to be played against West Indies, Italy and England in Kolkata, followed by a game against Nepal in Mumbai — are now under review as the BCB seeks relocation due to what it described as security concerns for its team and officials.
The T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, has entered a tense phase with Bangladesh’s request pending ICC consideration, adding a complex backdrop to the team’s World Cup preparations and international cricket relations in the region.
