The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has booked former T Nagar MLA B Sathyanarayan, also known as T Nagar Sathya, along with six others, including five officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), for alleged misappropriation of ₹35.6 lakh from the constituency development fund during the financial year 2018-2019.

The DVAC’s First Information Report (FIR) names Sathyanarayan and the following GCC officers: assistant engineers V Elangovam, M Manirja, G Radhakrishnan, V Periyasamy, former Zonal Officer S Natarajan, and V A Baskaran. The accused are charged with conspiring to falsify documents and misrepresenting an old building as newly constructed, as well as constructing three substandard buildings.

According to the FIR, the accused engaged in a scheme to embezzle funds by falsifying records to portray an existing old building as a new construction, thereby siphoning off public funds earmarked for developmental projects. Additionally, they are accused of erecting three buildings of inferior quality, further exacerbating the misuse of the allocated development funds.
