Does TN govt applaud Killing Innocents? asks CPR

Coimbatore, Dec 19: Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan raised a provocative question in Coimbatore, asking whether the Tamil Nadu government praises or glorifies those who kill innocent people.

Statement at the Airport
Speaking at the Coimbatore airport, Radhakrishnan began by paying homage to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, calling him a leader of great stature after Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose. He remarked that Ambedkar’s legacy will forever remain cherished in this land.

The Governor pointed out that some individuals seem to oppose the central government merely to protect their own political agendas, disguising their motives under the guise of state rights. “This is part of a larger pattern where people bind themselves with symbolic actions and distract from real issues,” he remarked.

Radhakrishnan expressed concerns about repeated elections, stating that holding polls frequently could hinder the progress of society and states. “Conducting elections once every five years is the way forward for sustainable development,” he added.

Referring to past incidents, he criticized the Tamil Nadu government for its perceived leniency towards individuals involved in violent acts. He cited the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts, which claimed 58 lives, blaming the then DMK government for its failure to act decisively.

He raised concerns over the state government’s alleged approval of a procession celebrating a convict in the blasts as if he were a martyr. “Does this mean the Tamil Nadu government praises or glorifies those who kill innocent people?” he asked.

Radhakrishnan condemned two political leaders who participated in the procession, questioning their motives. He urged the people of Tamil Nadu to completely reject such individuals.

“Can someone who killed innocent children with bombs be called a martyr? Can someone be celebrated solely based on their religion? Such actions are grave mistakes,” he emphasized.

His comments have sparked a fresh wave of debate on how political and social issues are addressed in Tamil Nadu.
