Kooran, a film centered around a dog, is creating buzz ahead of its release. Directed by debutant Nithin Vembupati, the film stars S.A. Chandrasekhar, Y.G. Mahendran, Sathyan, Balaji Sakthivel, George Maryan, Indraja, and Robo Shankar, among others. The movie is produced by director Vicky under Kana Productions, in association with VP Combines, and will be released by Dream Warriors on December 27.
The film’s music launch event was held today at a star hotel in Chennai, with former Union Minister and animal rights activist Maneka Sanjay Gandhi as the chief guest. The story revolves around the legal rights of a dog, aiming to shed light on animal rights issues.
Speaking at the event, Maneka Gandhi expressed her happiness in being part of the occasion and lauded the filmmakers for their efforts.
“I am thrilled to be part of this event. Congratulations to the entire team for creating such a wonderful movie. No film is small; Kooran raises significant questions and conveys profound thoughts. It emphasizes that all living beings are connected and have emotions like sorrow, happiness, fear, and a desire to live peacefully,” she said.
Drawing from her lifelong association with animals, she remarked,
“Having spent my life with animals, I have seen them communicate—not just dogs, but cats, chickens, snakes, pigs, and donkeys. They all have their own languages and understand humans, though we fail to understand them.”
Maneka also described the film as a lighthearted yet impactful entertainer and requested the government to grant it tax exemption:
“This film is not a campaign; it is a heartwarming movie filled with humor and subtle emotions. I urge the government to offer tax exemption for this important film. It is a commendable effort, and I am glad to support its journey to reach the audience.”
The film’s cinematography is by Martin Thanaraj, music by Siddharth Vipin, and editing supervised by P. Lenin and executed by Maruthi. With a strong cast and meaningful premise, Kooran promises to be a unique and entertaining experience for audiences.
