Chennai: Goods and properties worth Rs four lakh were stolen from disqualified Perambur MLA, Vetrivel’s sealed office located at Vyasarpadi here today.
Last November, the Chennai Corporation officials had locked and sealed the office building after his disqualification from the Assembly.
Following months of no activity in and around the office, few mystery men today reportedly jumped the compound wall and gained access into the building through the terrace by breaking open the lock.
Officers investigating the case have revealed that the burglars were in no hurry to immediately start their ‘business’ and took the time to even have a few rounds of drinks before leaving the office with the stolen property.
Large furnishings such as chairs, tables, 12 fans and two computers were among the things that were stolen by the thieves. It has been estimated that the total value of goods stolen would amount to Rs four lakh.
MKB Nagar Police are currently investigating the case. Vetrivel has said that he has no idea who the thieves might be and he thinks that the robbery could have been made a few days back.
He has requested the police to find the perpetrators. Vetrivel is one among the 18 MLAs who defected to the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader, TTV Dhinakaran’s camp following former Chief Minister J Jayalaithaa’s death. He was disqualified for speaking against AIADMK and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
