Chennai: Two women who braved the protesters and tried to enter the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple, were stopped mid-way and returned without having a darshan of the lord.

Journalist Libi C S, who had announced on her Facebook page that she was planning to pray at the Sabarimala hill shrine, faced angry protests. Hailing from Alappuzha in Kerala, she was stopped at Pathanamthitta by angry protesters.

According to reports, she was escorted to the police station for her safety. She had earlier announced on her Fb page that she would definitely succeed in visiting the shrine and that the police were with the devotees who wanted to go to the temple.

In the second case, Madhavi, 40, a devotee from Andhra Pradesh, had determined to offer worship at the hill temple. After she crossed the Pamba river and reached Ayyappan salai, about 200 metres after she began her trek, she was stopped by the protesters.

Though police came to her rescue, and allowed her to move on, they did not accompany her, she alleged. So, after a certain point, she had to give up her mission.
