Whodunit crime thrillers always garner attention of the audience. If made crisp and engaging, they manage to strike a chord with masses. Thadam by director Maghizh Thirumeni is an intense crime story that throws light on investigation process by the police and how they zero in on a murderer.

After Thadayara Thaaka, Magizh Thirumeni and Arun Vijay come together again. This time Arun Vijay gathers guts to do a double role. Tanya Hope, FEFSI Vijayan, Smruthi, Yogi Babu and Vidya Pradeep among others play supporting cast.

The movie begins on a breezy note to pick up steam at pre-interval. A murder occurs and police arrests a person. Enters a look alike of him. Confusion prevails as to who committed the murder.

Arun Vijay is on a roll. He has evolved much as an actor. In a double role, he gives right variation and ensures that there is no dip.

Kudos to Magizh Thirumeni for penning a story that has twists, turns and emotions packed well. Kavin (Arun Vijay) is a conman, who along with his friend Suruli (Yogi Babu) indulge in crimes. He comes across Ananthi (Smruthi Venkat) who falls for him but he doesn’t reciprocate. There is Ezhil (Arun Vijay in another role), an engineer who is madly in love with Deepika (Tanya Hope).

One of them murders a youngster. A senior cop Gopalakrishnan (Vijayan) arrests Ezhil after an evidence surfaces- a photograph showing him walking out of the house where the youngster was killed, But call it a twist.

Kavin too falls in police net. The police are left baffled. A sub-inspector Malarvizhi (Vidya Pradeep) takes up the case. They struggle to find who the killer is between Ezhil and Kavin. What happens then forms the crux.

If Arun Vijay adds strength with his performance, there is Vidya Pradeep as perplexed police officer contributing her might. FEFSI Vijayan is equally good. Magizh Thirumeni has ensured Thadam ends up an engrossing tale that is worth a watch.
