Dhinakaran’s AMMK announces candidates for four by-elections

Chennai: The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam has announced candidates for the four Assembly constituencies where by-elections are to be held 19 May 2019.

The candidates for the T T V Dhinakaran-led party are:

P H Shahul Hameed – Aravakurichi
Pollachi K Sugumar – Sulur
R Sundarraj – Ottapidaram
I Mahendran – Thiruparankundram

Pollachi Sugumar is a former MP, while Mahendran and Sundarraj are former MLAs.

By-elections were held for 18 constituencies along with the Lok Sabha elections 18 April. The Election Commission had announced the by-elections to the remaining four constituencies after the poll process began.

So, the election is scheduled for 19 May.

In a related development, AMMK general secretary Dhinakaran today submitted an application in the Election Commission of India, seeking to register the party.
