NEET impersonation: CB-CID grills students, parents, dean

Chennai: CB-CID officers conducted inquiries with a medical student, his parents and the dean of a medical college over impersonation in NEET this year.

The student Udit Surya (20) and his parents were arrested from a hotel in Tirupati and taken to CB-CID office at Egmore in Chennai for further questioning.

The arrest was made after the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court refused to grant anticipatory bail to him.

Police inquiries revealed that the photos of the student on the college application and the NEET 2019 score card did not match with appearance of the student attending the classes at the government medical college in Theni.

The dean was also questioned, sources said.

Hearing his anticipatory bail petition Tuesday, Justice GR Swaminathan advised the student to surrender before CB-CID on or before Friday and adjourned the case to 1 October.

Meanwhile, the impersonation case got murkier, with two more suspects getting reported from PSG Medical College, Coimbatore.

According to sources, it was found that the photographs of two students a male and a female- were different in the NEET score card and the admission card. Further inquiries are on.

Meanwhile, on verifying the student details of 24 medical colleges, the DME today said that there were no discrepancies in the government medical colleges. They are yet to verify the student records in private medical colleges.
