Chennai: At a time when coronavirus has put the entire world in a spot of bother and survival of the middle class and those below poverty line has become a big question mark, there are a few good samaritans who with their acts show all hope in not lost.
Karunakaran, who owns a petrol bunk at Chrompet in Chennai, has announced providing free shelter to nurses and para medical staff who are fighting the spread of COVID-19.
He says, “I have two residential apartments which I am planning to rent free of cost for them till we win our battle against Corona. It is an act to salute their selfless service.”
Karunakaran, who runs a few business establishments, is also an active politician. He says, “It is a pandemic. It would spread fast. Knowing it well, these medical staff risk their lives and help in treating patients.”
“My apartments are located on the main road close to Chrompet Government Hospital. It would be helpful for them to stay and attend to their duty”, he adds.
He also called on Chief Medical Officer at Chrompet Government Hospital Dr Palanivel and gave a letter of consent for the purpose.
