Chennai: The State police have arrested 5,16,627 persons for violating the norms of lockdown.
The police are tightening the grip over people as there are 13,967 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 94 deaths in Tamilnadu.
Until this morning, 4,85,243 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts, a press release from the DGP’s office said.
The police seized as many as 4,15,733 vehicles from those who stepped out of their houses for non-essential purposes. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 7,10,29,724 has been collected from violators as fine.
