Manchester: In third T20 against England, Pakistan managed a six wicket win thanks to splendid spell by Wahab Riyal last night.
On his part, England captain Eoin Morgan, said, ‘Was an improvement in the bowling department.
To restrict Pakistan with a short boundary on that wicket was very good. With the bat it was more disappointing.’
‘Regrouped with Ali and Billings and proved that it’s difficult to stop scoring when we get a partnership going. Just disappointed that we continued to stutter when Sam got out. But ultimately a really tight game with guys put under pressure and to see who performs and who doesn’t. It’s these games we want to be playing in to learn as much as we can. Feel sorry for the bowlers simply because we haven’t played T20s for so long.’
‘Have all been in lockdown, have been rusty. With the bat you can go and spend all day in the nets but the bowlers can only bowl so much. Banton’s continued to show what he does for Somerset now in an England shirt which is fantastic. Ali’s a joy to watch, very elegant and also experienced in our changing room. For him to come out and be the cornerstone of the innings at the back end was great.’
Pakistan captain skipper Babar Azam, said, ‘Was a nice close match. Quite entertaining. Started well with the ball. Ali played well, but our bowlers came back well. The talk (ahead of the final over) was that one side of the boundary was longer. One slower ball was off the mark, but it happens.’
‘Haider’s an outstanding talent. Played really well in U-19 World Cup, PSL and he showed it today. Thanks to the ECB for all the arrangements. Thanks to the fans back home as well who encouraged us.’
