Chennai: The Southern Railway will introduce weekly Superfast special trains between Chennai and New Jalpaiguri from 16 December.
A Railway release here said the Dr MGR Chennai Central-New Jalpaiguri–Dr MGR Chennai Central Weekly Superfast Special Train will leave here at 1045 hrs from 16 December and reach New Jalpaiguri at 0415 hrs the third day.
It would have stoppages at Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Eluru, Anakapalle, Duvada, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Berhampur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Hijilli, Bankura, Adra, Asansol, Durgapur, Rampurhat, Malda Town, Barsoi and Kishanganj.
In the return direction, it will leave New Jalpaiguri at 2115 hrs from 18 December and reach Chennai at 1410 hrs, the third day, with additional stoppages at Cuttack, Jajpur K Road and Bhadrak.
The Railway also announced daily special train between Nagercoil and Coimbatore stations from 16 December.
The train will leave Nagercoil at 0735 hrs with effect from 16 December and reach Coimbatore at 2020 hrs, the same day.
In the return direction, it will leave Coimbatore at 0725 hrs from 17 December and reach Nagercoil at 2010 hrs, the same day.
It would have stoppages at Nanguneri, Tirunelveli, Vanchi Maniyachi, Kadambur, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Thirumangalam, Tiruparankundram, Madurai, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Ambathurai, Dindugul, Karur, Pugalur, Kodumudi, Pasur, Erode, Uthukuli, Tiruppur, Somanur, Peelamedu and Coimbatore North.
Reservations for the above special trains will begin at 8 am on 5 December.
