Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Japan on Thursday for a two-day visit to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. The visit aims to boost India’s national interests, strengthen ties with Japan, and promote regional cooperation.
Modi will be in Japan from August 29 to 30 and will hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. ā€œWe will focus on shaping the next phase of our Special Strategic and Global Partnership, which has grown steadily over the past 11 years,ā€ he said before leaving.
After Japan, Modi will visit Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1 for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. He is likely to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the event.
This is Modi’s first standalone visit to Japan in almost seven years and his first bilateral summit with Ishiba.
