To attend meeting of senior party leadersActor‑turned‑politician Vijay will resume active political work on January 25, nearly a month after a period of silence following the Karur stampede incident and the halt of his party’s functioning.
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief is expected to attend a meeting of senior leaders and district secretaries at a luxury resort in Mamallapuram near Chennai, marking his return to party affairs ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
TVK, which was registered as a political party in February 2024, is also seeking to be allotted a common election symbol from the Election Commission of India for the upcoming polls in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Party sources said the symbol will help TVK candidates contest across constituencies with better voter recognition, as the party plans to field candidates in all 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu and 30 in Puducherry.
